This happens to me a lot…
Am an Arab 6ab3an.. not that proud to be one (welcome negative non constructive comments) but Allah put me here & in this spot for a reason and I only thank God for whatever I receive…
Where ever I go, people have the tendency to ask whether I’ve been to English schools, well no I didn’t; regular sakka high school with dimwits & so much anger inside me that actually lead to me being among the top 100 students in Kuwait the time I graduated!
Elmohem, lsani ma3wooj, these are the words of my mom = in other words, I speak English most of the time that has become harder for me to speak 3arabi nafs elbashar! But then mommy dearest also speaks English most of the time!! Sometimes people just turn around when I speak then start giggling! At a certain occasion, one guy in a shop goes like: ” ne7na 3arab, leish el engleezeeeeee” (dude was Syrian) ! WTF I went like: “To avoid dumb jackasses like you!” Huh! That was his expression!
Yesterday I was with my sisters and mom and we were shopping and I go like: “Sos, check this out! It’s an ALDO knockoff that actually looks better!” – two girls behind me, turn their backs to me and starts making fun! I got pissed but my young sister shoots at them – mafi kalam! We Syrians are stubborn crazy people!
My points are:
1.Why do people make fun of me (people who speak English) most of the time..
2.Why do people a9lan use English most of the time…
3.Why can’t we learn Hindi or tagalog quickly as our fellow Indian – philippino colleagues learn our language!
4.Hejab doesn’t mean I don’t know languages walla not educated (at the gym once, a group of US army guys go like: “Hey babe!” I went like: “Hey babe back atch!” – one goes like: ” she knows English!” :$ ambil! Why wouldn’t I !!

Yeah as an Arab your not supposed to talk English well apparently. Its funny coz when I hear an Arab speaking English I look around right away looking for the source.
Once I was walking past a people talking to my friend in English and I got a “Ooh shoofow i3yal ilmadaris ilenglaisiya, 3abalhum shay!”

I have a mixed feeling towards this actually, I used to live in the states, and my arabic was never really that good either, and people do give me that why the hell cant u speak arabic looks etc etc, and they annoy me!!
But then recently, it’s like people suddenly decided talking english is cool and arabic is ay shay, so these people annoy me too! Shasawy lol! But seriously, they’re like OWH MAH GAWD!! I can’t! oh hell! jesus!! like whatever !! They talk like they came out from a cheap tv series!! Puh-leese get a life :p

Does it really matter what people think? lol just look at them, smile and walk away. It’s who you are inside that should always remain just as you want it to- everything else is just noise- dont stoop to anyone’s level :)

It happened to me also especially when I spoke to arabs with the arabic language I know (fus-ha, I can’t speak lah-ja no matter how I tried) they looked at me as if they were making fun of my language, so what they want me to do :( if I speak english they can’t understand, if I speak arabic in my own way, they laughed!
