Another @#$@ !!! I didn’t know 5 stars hotels in Kuwait serve drinks in public!

So am currently blogging from a fancy “F”rench cafe at a 5 stars hotel…. Dude working there looks creepy; He kept on turning his head to check on us & I was like: “What the hell is wrong with this idiot!?”

Both Blue & my sister look at him, nothing wrong SO FAR! So I turn my back to see the guy, opening a box – reaches out to get a Red Label bottle, pour it in a glass – go fetch some ice from the box & holds it with both hands to deliver it to this lady sitting right across!!!

IN KUWAIT!! They say, laa mafiiii, Mako, Il n’ya pas!!! Holy Shmolly!!!

[Update]: Another guy came over to ask what we are looking at & if he could help & I go like: “Serve me some of that Red Label pls!!!!” He went offf… MASKHARA!!!!!!!

UPDATE!

Dudes! That wasn’t the real post! I was just warming up for what’s coming next!!

Where this took place, I don’t wanna disclose the venue; besides, I can’t make it more clear than that!! “F” Café! DUH!!

So the waiter who asked if he could help came back & we had a mini chat, he clearly told us that he was asked before to serve alcohol but because he’s Muslim, he refused too since IT IS HARAM! Even serving it is HARAM! I advised him to go tell his “buddy” to do it in a more discreet way & to remind him it’s HARAM guess what he answered me! “He’s not sober in the first place right now!” good for him!! Niiiice, while serving us, this dude was up in “lala land”!!

?? ??? ???? ?????? ???????

This is why I couldn’t keep quiet! As if this is the last thing we need! Intoxicated freaks out there in the middle of the freaking day! Driving, walking & lurking between us – God knows what’s on their minds…it’s scary people.. this is not A JOKE! If you cannot change the universe, one can at least point things out…

My solution: Either legalize it completely OR take real action – from the biggest head in Kuwait to those who locally brew alcohols in their houses… this “overlook” policy works on “some” people leaving others out! That’s not fair is it! I mean COME ON – logically speaking, Let everyone have fun or just STOP IT.

Why am I shocked while I know these things happen on the “down low” as they say, it’s because it’s funny to see people crossing lines & fiddling with their principles. Shyookh’s on TV speaking about religion, Religion being “marketed” now a days in a “hip” manner to attract a bigger & much more versatile group of peple of different age groups o majles elommah o eldayneen elly feeh & … & … &……

It’s funny because:

1. Private parties are not allowed or accepted bas it happens anyways
2. Some singers are banned from entering Kuwait
3. During Hala February, elly fee ommo kheir yet7arrak men 3al korsi!
4. They rant about dress codes & crap happening in the society!
5. They have banner as big as our house with Islamic messages…
6. Barbie turned Islamic & Fulla was born!
7. Guys & girls are not allowed to be in mixed classes in public schools wala universities
8. They have the word “halal” on menus & in restaurants…
9. “Entertainment” is on hold during Ramadan & people get extra religious!!

WHAT MORE!! Here’s what really happens:

1. Private parties DO TAKE place every week here I KNOW!!!
2. Those banned singers DO COME here for “private” gatherings
3. People walk around half naked
4. People tend to neglect religion for some weird reason
5. GUYS & GIRLS DO MEET in private because society makes it wrong for them to act normal!
6. Halal or Haram food issue – I don’t wanna discuss! I eat o neyyety (my intention) is known to God
7. Why the hell do they blame TV & music of ruing generations!!

I say to these “BIG” people fix yourselves before you tell others what to do or how to live their lives… I say either act like a MUSLIM country or SHUT THE HELL UP! You can legalize anything & have rules to control it… isn’t it better than living in the dark!

Am no extremist bas I wish that people take off these masks & ACT REAL….

  3. Pinky Says:

I am not surprised but this is usually done behind a closed door or in a booth at a restaurant, in a cafe is a bit blatant!!! Perhaps the person was wasta (as well as whisky) filled????

  4. Amu Says:

NO way Chika are you serious??? I never heard it being served so openly…

  5. N. Says:

lol! Incredible.. It happens. This is the hospitality business.

  6. Amethyst Says:

And seriously LOL! On Barbie hahahaha.

I think we should all sign some sort of petition to the higher authority! Wait what authority!

  12. nQ Says:

    Basic human rights.
People should do as they please as long as they’re not harming anyone.
In this case, they may drink if they want to, but should not drive while intoxicated.
Same goes to the people that hang banners as “big as your house,” if they want to, then they shall.

  13. eshda3wa Says:

yeah ive seen it a few times
alchohol being served 3ade like its pepsi
and you know what happenes if they get caught?
    NOTHING

they rarely if ever charge anyone 3l monkar
    malat 3alaihum
    ez7eeeeeeeeeeeeeeer beb6onhom golay ameen!

  14. Kuwaitizen Says:

Dear people that wrote all the comments above,
If you are looking for the guilty, you need only to look into a mirror.
We people, are not angels, never were and never will be.
People that drink alcohol, they may be nice people….but also drink alcohol. Judging them on a single action is narrow minded.
I know we live on an islamic-turned-liberal state. And basically we live on a hypocritical society.
You people, have seen so much corruption, that you don’t even look for positivity or good deeds.
If you want society to be better, you CAN start making it better by first starting with yourself.
If you want a miracle, be the miracle. don’t just come here and bitch about society and it’s problems.
bitching has never solved any problem.
you can be the role model.
It CAN start with you, and maybe others will follow.
    thank you.

  15. EniGma Says:

I’m surprised enna he took out the bottle ashkara in full view of everyone. I know inna it’s served (for example at a cafe in marina mall), but it’s min ta7at laih ta7at.

  16. princess Says:

hmmm the “F” cafe? where is that :p and woah someone is on the path of rightousness, good for u! is that why u were pissed off in the other post?

  17. pearls Says:

How can anyone expect someone who had a drink not to drive lol. It’s just like telling a 1 year old or a retard not to jump out of the window but have the window open for them. It’s silly to permit drinking at the same time put rules like don’t drink and drive. It makes me laugh!

I agree that it’s their own life, such people can drink if they want but in their privacy of their homes as long as they don’t pose a threat to anyone.

Tip: even little drinking causes liver problems and neurological disorders on the long run, and if you were under its influence and accidentally conceive a baby then there’s a big chance baby’s born with defects too. How can it be good?

  18. Fonzy Says:

Nice post and very neutral position u have taken. Either do it the right way or dont do it at all. Most expats in the country expect Kuwait to be like Dubai very soon, and rumours start spreading supposedly sourced from high ranking officials, then the govt does something that ruins everything. They dont realize the saying “il mamnoo3, marghoob!!” so the more they ban alcohol, the more people will want it, the more drunk they will get and the more dangerous being in public is.

  19. :::Shayouma::: Says:

I know that they don’t sell it but serve it if the person brings it with him.. But it’s really stupid because I think they should call the police and let them know there’s something not allowed in the country, not serve it!
I don’t think el mamno3 margob, unless the person is weak and tempted. You cannot make something not wanted by not banning it. It’s not the way to change people, they are not kids, you know. I think a person is raised in a certain way and if the person knows what’s right and wrong, he or she will not do it. I mean we travel but we don’t drink or go to clubs! I know some people do but it’s because they are bad people.

  20. pearls Says:

they are a 0 star hotel

  21. Chikapappi Says:

    - GREY! I won’t tell you – tsk tsk tsk – It’s not good for health in the first place.

    - TAT, we all know they drink here but not in PUBLIC – Dang I shoulda taken a picture!

    - Pinky: Yeah, that’s what we were told… the guy who served it was drunk too LOL!!

    - AMU, Mo that’s why I regret not taking the picture!

    - N. Hospitality walla nursing business – when they say haram o mamno3, they stick to it bas if they wanna work wastas to serve certain people , that’s plain dumb.

    - Amethyst: Hmm.. I can’t comment on that here bas they wouldn’t have helped :)

    - Purgy, NO – not when they are not doing it right!

    - Yara, e walla $@^%^ !!!!

    - Vagabond LOL!!! Yup – the color ain’t the same o I SAW THE BOTTLE!

    - Vix. Fee “….. ….. Hotel” ;)

    - Blue, LOL!! Re7ty feeha ! I don’t know you! :P

    - NQ, Hmm.. freedom in an opened county – where people don’t bullshit about stuff all the time – as I said, they can drink behind closed doors o ensure safety of the rest..

    - Eshda3w AMEEEEEEN! LOL! Seriously it stays on paper huh… maskhara!

    - Kuwaitizen: Does that include me!! Well, I tried to show my discontent but what can we seriously do as individuals to fix this hypocritical society as you call it o as I see it! Fee suggestions ! share with the rest!

    - Enigma! Marina Mall!! Which one!

    - Princess: Noooo, the other post is something else – I try to be a good girl “sometimes” :P

    - Pearls: It’s not good but they’ll continue doing it anyways … what to do!

    - Fonzy: I know… that’s why they gotta fix this ASAP bala hal masakher!

    - Shayouma: Hmm.. it’s hard to judge people o where they come from so we don’t anyone’s feelings bas yes it does come down to personal choices – not religious – and these people should be more careful – Police won’t do anything as you read in previous comments.

    - Pearls , yeah ! I don’t wanna go there again – my money goes to buy bottles of Red label! Maskhara!

  22. nQ Says:

What do you mean by “opened country”? who is gonna open and close it? The society makes up a country. So if one half of the society wants to display their everlasting religious believes, and the other half wants to have a glass of red wine with their steak, then so it should be.

And about drinking “behind closed doors o ensure safety of the rest” haw haw haw sh3abalich i9eeeroon beasts or cannibals?

I’m sure you can choose more critical political and social problems we are facing in Kuwait, rather than focusing on a few friends downing vodka shots on their birthday.

    priorities priorities
    …….priorities

  23. Chikapappi Says:

    “Opened” as in liberal!!!

Society makes up a country… In this case & with regards to this country – show me what the people did to change things – do not mention trivial day to day issues – the constitution. . . does it serve these people..

If you read what I said in the original post carefully, you would have understood that I am saying either legalize the drinking so people won’t be scared or other bullies won’t bitch & complain like you think am doing instead of chickening out – since you think that it’s a free society & are free to do what they want without being pointed at nor ridiculed…

As for alcohol abusers- alcoholocs, la2 I didn’t see how bad it gets bas I’ve ran across a coupls drunk assholes & they act like .. assholes! It takes away mind girl!!! Isn’t that scary – since you cannot predict what this person will do or what he’s thinkin’!

I ain’t into politics o sure as hell would NOT like to get myself into it and its not the issue of priorities, no matter what one starts with o how important or not it is, it’s considered a step towards the enhancement of the quality of our lives & the development of this country..

  24. pearls Says:

nQ, so you think drinking is ok in a Muslim country?

    ?????? ?? ???? ????? ????

  25. nQ Says:

I never said that we are living in a free society, I said that people (as in individuals) should have the right to do as they please.
About the liquor: “I’ve ran across a coupls drunk assholes & they act like .. assholes” for every drunk asshole you get me, I can get you five SOBER assholes. Don’t you hear about all the accidents happening in Kuwait? What percentage of them is under the influence? I do not know, but I’m sure it’s the minority. I personally know many abusive attacks that happened in Kuwait and non of the men were under the influence. Ask around, how many of your friends or family members have been assaulted or sexually abused by a person under the influence? Chikapappi, is the result of the person’s upbringing. If parents fail to raise children that are responsible and knowledgeable, then the outcome would be devastating.

As far as I’m concerned, everything that I do here in the states, I am doing in Kuwait. I do not care how long they stare or what words these speak of me, I’m free to be as I am. There are certain things that I do not agree with, somethings are so simple, such as people smoking in public. To me this is more harmful than a person having a drink, but I don’t go and tell them put your cigarettes down (as much as I really want to). I don’t know if I’m losing you right now, I can never put my point through with written words, but I sure hope you’re trying to understand my stance. “Rome wasn’t built in a day” if you want to see a change in Kuwait, then you better start working on it really fast. Other kids are doing it; The 6K Club, nabeeha khamsa, etc. Its nice that you’re blogging about it, but you can do more, start a campaign or something. I’m sure you can find loads of people that are willing to participate and help. No use the bicker.
This is more of an essay not a comment, sorry if it seems that I’m up for a fight, i’m not. I’m just trying to understand the other’s point of view.

Pearls; A Muslim should stay away from booze, but why should a non-muslim (or a party animal) refrain from drinking? You can control your own life, but not others. Oooh whats “country” got to do, got to do with it? Countries are nothing but lines on a map, hopefully one day they will be erased. I am my own country.

  26. Rashisha Says:

**Im not surprised, there is another place here and if u bring your own booze they will mix the drinks for you and make ur cocktails. I was invited to go to that place but since i dont eat thatkind of food and i didnt know the ppl. I didnt go..

** I went to RT in fintas for iftar about 10 mins b4 athan im with my mom and brother we sit down and almsot ever single person in the rest. is eating and the music is blasting,we call a waiter over and ask him why the hell is the rest like this in ramadan this is not allowed hes like thats a rishk were willing to take!!! IMAGINE my brother wanted to call the policeLOL .. the tables are bare no dates no water no juice no laban nothing to show that its almost time for iftar, i had to ask the waiter every 2 mins if he could turn on the radio sowe could hear the athan…i was ignored. I had to call family members to know when it was timeto eat. The food was awful.

  27. miss ghesquiere Says:

i have been to WAY too many private parties at homes and 8a3at where alcohol was served. so i stopped going cause i find drunk people disgusting/pathetic and watching them drunk seems indecent. but serving it in PUBLIC, not even by the hotel in a 8a3a, thats too far. as if we need any more drunkards in this wacko country!!! religion 9ayer tradition to people. something they can reject and side-step at will just as long as ma7ad yifdha7hom (and some dont even care anymore). its not a way of life any more. we live in a materialistic, ignorant culture and we need to change that before we progress! so now those who are running our country are themisogynistic, pervenrted psychos who think its best to divide girls and boys in private schools and unis!! thankyou chika, finally someone who doesnt think its okay or “3ady” to walk around drunk at 11 in the morning or smoke up!! im so sick of this!
