On staying anonymous…
My motto is: “If I ain’t doing something wrong, there’s no need for me to cover or be ashamed of anything” – a saying passed by people & goes through any time & place.
After having discussions with different people, I find myself sticking to this – the motto- I mean, I can understand if Blue Ice Envy doesn’t wanna reveal her real identity bas many other “normal” bloggers seem ok to me! We rant, curse, love, hate, eat, go out, gossip… etc! so why hide behind our screens! Why don’t some of you remove this “3eeb” notion from your minds, since people mingle in real life anyways! So, does this mean there’s no point of having blogs any more!! I always advise people, do not write what you shouldn’t share with others in the first place….
Do I make sense!
“Anonymosity” ( if it’s a real word ) Anonymity, is it an obligation or a choice!

When people share the unshared in
real life its a relief that they actually let it out ,
with out any back fires.
ya3ni a reason bigger than
just having a blog for social purposes.
i think.
But to some people this also works. so cheers.
October 6th, 2007 at
Totally agree with u
I have nothing to hide, i even have my name on my pictures lol..
I think people can be themselves and u can rant a little bit but in your usual way..
October 6th, 2007 at
Bb.. butt.. I want to meet you!
October 6th, 2007 at
I think you should just be yourself in your blog.. Some people like to hide and some don’t , it’s a choice, for me it’s fine if people know who i am
October 6th, 2007 at
As much as I would like to agree with you, not everyone would equally keep their bargain. In other words, not everyone have good honest genes out there. People can be sick especially when they can hide cyberally. I personally think its best to be careful than sorry later.
October 6th, 2007 at
Many people are afraid of identity theft but they do exaggerate about it, I mean sharing name, educational background wont hurt at least in our region.
October 6th, 2007 at
i think its a matter of choice.
some people have very good reasons to hide behind their cyber identity. but i do agree with you, if your not doing something wrong theres no reason to hide.
though i don’t disclose my identity on my blog, i do have my e-mail up there and i always tell people who i am if they ask.
i guess what i’m trying to say here is that there isn’t really right or wrong here.
October 6th, 2007 at
Anonymity vs credibility … that is the question!
October 6th, 2007 at
i dont think this motto really works in our dear society
October 6th, 2007 at
I use my real name Mona.. but no one really knows who I am.. some people in real life know about my blog.. other than that.. no one.. and I rather keep it this way cause I don’t want stalkers.
October 6th, 2007 at
I have no problems with revealing my name or any other basic personal information. Why? a blog is a diary that I, you and any other blogger need to relate to. You write things that reflect your upbringing and yourself and for me -personaly- I need to feel attached to it so that I can feel that I actually exist within this blogging world. Others might prefer the beauty of Freedom, just like a passing wind, you are aware of their presence but you don’t know/relate to them because they are anonymouse and I respect that. In a society like ours, some of us want to run, jump and sing without being seen and criticized. Free like a bird ..^_^
October 6th, 2007 at
Being able to stay anonymous is a right.. people in the free world go to court to stay anonymous. Company’s sometimes governments, file law suits to force internet companys to reveal the identity of their users.
A huge part of free speech that is left for us is that we’re able to post and write about anything we want without worrying about what people will think about it us.
Anonymity.. gives us another world to live in… a world without boundaries.

choice
October 6th, 2007 at
its definitely a choice, im very open about my blog , everyone i know, knows about it, oo im pretty open with everything i say as is my nature
bs sometimes say i want to rant about someone that reads my blog and knows me? Or i wana talk about something i know 100 percent my mom would get mad over (although shes very good with respecting my space thing), there are only a handful of times i felt the need to be anonymous

I’m an anonymous blogger! I understand your personal blogging philosophy, here’s my personal blogging philosophy. Honestly there’s no point in me keeping a personal blog that’s not anonymous because it wouldn’t be doing anything for me, if there’s something I want to talk about that’s on my mind that I can discuss with other people than I’m going to discuss it with people! That’s what my friends and family members are for; I wouldn’t put time and effort in a personal blog just to type down what I’ve said or am going to say to the people around me. That serves no purpose for me and plus my blog would be kind of boring to people that don’t personally know me.
I always have a lot on my mind and there’s only one person in the world that I can trust to tell anything to, my best friend, and she’s just not very accessible to me lately because of her personal issues, so this is where my blog has served to be very therapeutic because all of the things I would say to her, and a lot of those things I would say to NOONE ELSE, I can post on my blog and it would have the same benefit plus an added benefit of being able to get feedback. Also, Just because you’re not sexually explicit it doesn’t mean you don’t have secrets and private thoughts that are just not appropriate for the public to hear. This isn’t an issue of ‘3eeb’, I don’t think in terms of 3eeb, it’s more about privacy and respect to others. I’m not generally a gossiper in real life but in my blog, which is my place to vent, I talk about a lot of people and many times in a critical way, it gives me a release to do that and I think it gives comfort to people reading it if they can relate to what I’m saying, it’s like a system of cyber support. If my blog wasn’t anonymous I know it would get quickly discovered by people I know and I would be gossiping and slandering and backbiting. Although I change names, it wouldn’t be hard to figure out who I’m talking about if the reader knows the person. Also, everyone has secrets and there’s a lot of secrets that I reveal on my blog and I think many people have come to appreciate the truthness or the rawness of some of my posts, I would never be able to do that if it wasn’t anonymous. Although I’ve seen that some of you have kept great blogs where you reveal your identities, there’s just no point for me to have a non-anonymous blog!
Of course being anonymous doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to have relationships with other bloggers or consider actually meeting some of you guys in real life, that sounds like something cool to do one day, but I also wouldn’t be openly blogging about you or my experiences with you.

Somehow this is related to what I have dicussed long ago. [link]
Most people preferred to stay anonymous and would quit blogging/using the net if they get exposed. As for me, I said in that post I have no problem exposing myself but I rather not to for my own good.
October 6th, 2007 at
only a couple of ppl know who i am but i’m ok with it. madri i don’t really care if ppl find out
October 6th, 2007 at
Even though I completely understand what you are saying, being anonymous still has its goods. Sometimes I come to think to unveil myself but then I looked at some of my posts and choose to remain anonymous nevertheless. However, I do share my blog with many of my close friends and relatives who understand who I am and where do I come from. In the end, I think of many reasons that the blogsphere is created is to be anonymous.
October 6th, 2007 at
Anonymity is a choice. As for me, I don’t mind people finding out who I am, couldn’t careless. My blog is part of who I am:)
October 6th, 2007 at
I have no problem in revealing my name or identity … but its fun to be anonymous :)
October 6th, 2007 at
It’s not a question of shame. It’s a choice, a preference. Some very private people prefer to remain so, and others have security issues. We probably all just need to respect one another’s choices.
October 6th, 2007 at
Wow, thats the ultimate blog question I recon. I remain anonymous for a number of reasons,
1. I can speak my mind freely without concerns of the Kuwait Goldfish bowl effect coming back to bite me in the bum.
2. It’s just about the only way to be anonymous these days
3. I like that people can get to know a little about who I am without precoceptions.
It’s defo a personal choice!!
October 6th, 2007 at
Identity Theft Fraud is basically a reason one worries about their anonymity because in case you haven’t heard about it, the more information you reveal about your true self the more is available to sick freaks out there who can steal your life away. Then where would you be?
But I understand where you’re getting at.
P.S. I used to have that image on my blog as a Commenters Avatar LOL!
October 7th, 2007 at
Jax, I know LOL! I just remembered it :P
I DARE ALL OF YOU! ALL, to go public! Show me YOU!
October 7th, 2007 at
by the way, you still anonymous :p
October 7th, 2007 at
I think anonymity is good ..it gives me super powers .. dont want to lose them …lol ! Infact i am so ordinary , there is nothing good about me if it wasnt for the anonymity of Internet …
October 7th, 2007 at
- Jad: to many am not :P
- Grey: You! Ordinary! You crazy! With such a personality, you are so unique! Keep it up dude!
October 7th, 2007 at
My blog is me, so I don’t really mind people knowing. I don’t think it is a question of 3eeb or not either. If it is 3eeb, why would I even talk about it at all?! We can talk about many things, rarely is there something 3eb, especially talking about it, doing it probably but talking is okay.
October 7th, 2007 at
3eeb! It’s all wrong! It’s all bad! All of it! You should be ashamed of yourselves! :O
Erm.. what was this post about again? :]
October 7th, 2007 at
“Honestly there’s no point in me keeping a personal blog that’s not anonymous because it wouldn’t be doing anything for me,. if there’s something I want to talk about that’s on my mind that I can discuss with other people”
Asma, even if one reveals their identity, blogging still wouldn’t compare with having a conversation. In conversations, the ideas are exchanged in short bursts. Can you imagine a friend sitting there listening while you think of and deliver a 2 page post (part 1) ? Aside from that it acts as a time capsule. Five years from now you might look back on your blog, and think ‘so this is what I was like back then’.
October 7th, 2007 at
i completely agree with you. i guess there are alot of people they would like to meet but they can’t because of the posts they talked about (becuse they are super personal) so they don’t want the other blogger to be able to recognize them. i can’t reveal my name, identity and gender. i want to be anonymous because of the thoughts i’m gonna write.
October 8th, 2007 at
well it’s a choice …for me i don’t care I am what I am take it or leave it….and i guess many bloggers know me now in person or have seen me…:P
and hitman1 u’d better stay quiet coz remember i met you…:)
October 8th, 2007 at
hmmm when is your next outing..:p
October 8th, 2007 at
Hmm.. not sure YET :P
October 8th, 2007 at
- Bello: Yes I know – bas since you’re not doing anything wrong – what’s the harm in socializing more!
- Shayouma: I didn’t see the name :) bas yes I believe that too
- Vix: tomorrow girl, patience woman!
- Sushi, yes.. that’s why I emphasize that people keep some things put from their posts – keep things clear & clean :)
- Jad: Identity theft shloon, we’re not disclosing financial matters it’s just a name & daily life activities so no harm done, again – I say keep things that you don’t want people to know in your closet
- Nomad: That’s what I do, you pick people – being selective then you start showing your real self..
- Qwaider: Yes dude… bas Kaman credibility minus too much honesty is the right equation
- Joud: we always blame society why! It’s up to people to change it not for stupid rules to govern us
- Mona: Yeah, I like how you have your picture o use your real name, I cannot put mine though because some freaks wait their for fresh meat – YUKH some people are sick!
- Chroma Trauma: Lovely thinking! I relate to you!
- Hitman: remember buddy, your IP is monitored around the clock, so there’s no running if you mess up with a post :)
- Laily: yes I know :)
- Eshda3wa: I like that too in you, my mom knows about it too so does my dad, my whole family – some people out there came across it, I don’t mind & I do not mess with them by posting personal things – I tend to be careful.
- Asoom, nicely said :) you do make a point there & Blue says the same – that’s why I say be “selective” with whom you wanna socialize with in real life
- Macaholic: valid point too – I didn’t see that post :$
- Enigma: I say that too – I just don’t care, consider this like one weird magazine :) you enjoy new topics on daily basis !
- Angelo: yeah, it’s basically your choice & it’s a matter of personal preference..
- Amethyst: Good thinking – again like a previous comment – I forgot because of the long list – bas it’s you & reflects your thinking as long as it’s not bad or would come back to bite you in the ass… blong along girl :)
- AMU: who’s the mystery girl ! :P
- Intlxpatr: I know & respect that :)
- Pinky: :) I’ll catch you one day – Kuwait is “this” big :P
- N. :) isn’t it nice being YOU & not being afraid from people!
- 3baid: LOL! Naaah it’s not 3eeb – hide boy :P
- Hani, that’s why I say do not disclose everything & yes it’s interesting to find out what people say without knowing you in person, no butt kissing involved I mean..
- Perfectionist: yalla. Am waiting for those “personal” posts :P
- Maze: enta akher wa7ed te7ki! Dude, you have pics bel swimming suit ! :P
