Blogging vs. Facebooking

Prayer:

Dear God:

I thank you for making me live this day, I wouldn’t wanna die before doing all that I have to do for you. I would also like to thank you for all the technologies we’re using to network God but why did humans come up with Facebook?!

facebook.jpg

This happened a coupla months ago, when I was invited to join Facebook – at that time, I was very against this thing since I’ve seen what it does to my sisters who literally had their face stuck to the screens ALL the time. They wouldn’t wanna show me what they were doing – talk about being an older sister! WOHO!

El mohem, I logged in & was dumb browsing it – uploaded some pictures not any more :P & added my sisters (no running girls)… I thought it was cool at the beginning TILL I started seeing & being contacted by people I don’ wanna be associated with or even get in touch with! These are people who I just don’t wanna be around & it’s weird because I thought to myself, you run from people in real life to see them in cyber land?! WTF!

His & Hellos lead to a bad incident & I keep telling people, I am a veeeeeery patient person but there are limits & that doesn’t apply on everyone. Anyways, these buncha idiots did something that pissed me off BIG TIME – I had to let the “devil”, my sister N. handle it her way! Kokokok!!! This made me deactivate the whole thing..

Now, almost every single person around me has a Facebook account & I keep arguing that Blogging is much better & useful! I do not really know what Facebook does besides keeping you in touch with family members abroad – like in my case; As I got to know a cousin of mine whom I didn’t see since invasion! Hey Tamy!! :)

This is what I did when I logged on yesterday:

1. Log on, check emails if there’s any
2. Bite someone to turn them into zombies
3. Send ass bites to people
4. Search for discussions
5. Draw on someone’s wall!
6. CHECK OTHER PEOPLE’S PICTURES! LOL! :) highlight of Facebook!

Ok, seriously! Do you get what am saying here!? NOTHING serious going on there besides biting chumps & poking someone’s eyes! Last thing I did yesterday was answer a couple of questions Student Talk Group had there; That’s what I like, interesting stuff to do – not go there say hi to people you already see outside in the street! OMG!

Blogging….

What do I say about blogging!! I love it! It’s not an addiction, it’s a healthy activity… keeps my mind sane! I vent things here & cuss & curse – well, I already do that in real life but hey! I love it.

Benefits of blogging:

1. Meeting wonderful, funny, interesting, educated, helpful smart people like you guys

2. Thaqafa 3amma = General knowledge: browsing through Safat lets me know more stuff than I do reading a newspaper

3. Get inspired to do something for my life or just for a day

4. Get to build up my personality by being exposed to different type of people & getting personal with them – like commenting on a topic I don’t like.

5. Enhance language – My English writing skills have improved a lot since I started – I picked up vocabulary too :) DIMWITS! LOL!

6. It’s interesting because we can all share thoughts – besides acting like kids sometimes but seriously we get so intellectual sometimes..

Is there something you’d like to add more about YOUR blogging experience?! AM so hungry, I can’t focus!!

I just signed in yesterday….. hehe

  2. Chikapappi Says:

See, this is what I mean, saaaame people – different setting! Bas Facebook is dumb

  3. Amethyst Says:

I don’t have a Facebook account either. Cheers for blogging. I love it, and I love the people I’m meeting. Yes, you included;p

  4. Hani Obaid Says:

I spend around 5 minutes a day on facebook. I don’t understand why its so important to some people, but it is nice to see what people you knew years ago are upto, to discover that the people you know actually know each other (small world), and to share and see some photos. That’s basically it.

I don’t think it compares to blogging at all. How much self-expression can one do on a 1 line wall post or status update?

  5. Rebellious Arab Girl Says:

    I hate facebook
I only use it to play games with my co-workers
    Texas Hold’em is awesome! :D

  6. asoom Says:

To me I draw a clear distinction between facebook and blogging and they have very different purposes. Facebook is more about my real world and social networking, I stay in touch with high school and some college friends largely only because of facebook!

Blogging is totally different, there’s a much more narrow range of people that are interested in writing blogs or reading them (Im not talking age groups, I’m talking more like personality types). It’s more like a mind exercise than a social exercise!

  7. Sushi Says:

I don’t like facebook either. I have an account which I don’t use at all but mainly interested in keeping just to socialize with people that I no longer have contact with.

Blogging is much more interesting because it keeps you mentally stimulated, like you said.

  8. Pinky Says:

    I must say
My name is Pinky and it has been 3 minutes since I last checked facebook.
    Addicted!!!
In some ways I understand exactly what you say Chikka but I’ve managed to ignore the numpties I don’t to be in touch with and get in touch with those I do!!!
    Give it a try!

  25. This Lady Says Says:

Facebook and blogging are completely different.
I joined facebook a long time ago, and I got in touch with ppl who I havent seen since middle school and elementary (that I ACTUALLY WANT to keep in touch with)
These ppl were my friends and because we all got separated through high school and college, it was great seeing each other and catching up.
So it does have benefits. U can also learn about them, like where they graduated from and when, married, engaged, etc.
Personally, I dont use it to get to know more people. I just keep in touch with ppl I already know.
As for blogging, that’s a whole new thing. Its where u write about whatever u want. Facebook is just a keeping-in-touch sorta thing.

  26. :::Shayouma::: Says:

hmm I have been invited and i did register but I couldn’t find my way around there so I didn’t go again, I don’t understand how it works.
And how do u meet old friends? I mean, Everyone is using their real names of what?

  27. Chikapappi Says:

Well, yeah Shayouma, last time I checked they do & I do too :D

  28. Muslem Says:

please do not mention god ( allah ) name in jokes or funny writing , al do3a’a lee allah leyastgeb wa ya’3fer le 3ebadh
    etqo allah jazakm alla 5er

  29. Chikapappi Says:

    - Amethyst : You too babe :)

    - Hani: Well yes, it’s basically that & not mush I guess

    - Mona: You gotta teach me that girl :)

    - Asoom: Yes, I’d rather the small controlled group rather than meeting freaks I don’ like :) bas hey, it just became interesting :)

    - Sushi: Mental’s gooooood

    - Pinky: NUMPTIES! LOL!

    - 3baid: wala ana :/

    - Bello: WOHO! I guess you’ll change your mind after what you heard :)

    - TAT: Yeah boredom is weird – I like poking people!

    - Grey: Go sleep :P

    - Mishref: I know dude

    - Ra7alla: I know we can’t compare bas people who have accounts there argue a lot when it comes to blogging – guess we have to start shifting people !

    - Vizen: Yeah ain’t it! Especially for someone like me :)

    - This lady says: Yeah, I don’ wanna know about people either – enough here :)

    - Muslim: en sha2 allah – thanks bro. :)

  30. error Says:

you get exposed to bad taste in music too :P

i agree with you but one ought to use everything moderetly

  32. Verbal Alchemy Says:

thank God someone actually agrees that facebook is such a silly invention intended only for the increase of online dating/hook ups and exposure of uneccessary pictures over cyber space! blech! u wanna keep up with ur friends, u can email or msn, u dont need to put ur pic up for the world to c and the opposite sex to check out and flirt with u on some level, and blech again! lol

i donno why i hate it so much, but i cant think of my better half having a profile with his pics and getting poked and msged by girls and me being cool about it!

wow! rant over, me feeling better :D nice blog u got here btw :)
    bless!

  33. Chikapappi Says:

  37. Chroma-Trauma Says:

.. When I joined Facebook – Talk about Peer Pressure- months ago as every single person I know ( And I would love to keep in touch with ) prefer FaceBook. I decided to give it a try and enjoy the -so called amazing socializing experience. I admit, I was hooked in the first few days.. It’s amazing to see people that you haven’t thought of and then sudenly , it struck a cord, and you feel ashamed because you didn’t keep in touch .. .. E-mails, writing in walls and so one.. Then, it started to get annoying, and worst of all, the number of people who want to be your friend!!!! I have no problem with people whome I worked with, but a person Who I spoke to, once .. wants to add me… I thought the concept behind Facebook is to keep in touch with YOUR freinds, not build friendships with poeple you can’t stand …
