Blibber Blabber!!
Seems like the winning ticket to quick fame in Hollywood is going on TV revealing “dark” childhood secrets which for some odd reason only revolve around sexual abuse! WTF!!!
They say they’re brave, opening up their lives & talking about these “painful” secrets- makes them feel better as if they are throwing weight off their shoulders… OK!!!
I still don’t get it walla!! & then they go & write books! LOL!!! Who would be interested in that!?! I wonder…

guilty! I’d actually be interested in reading those books…..ya3ni depends on who it is of course.

Hmm.. who’s book did you read lately? I personally find it boring to read someone’s biography, like Clinton’s :/ If it’s someone who had a real role in “sculpting” values in life ok, I understand bas like what’s her name, Terri (Desperate Housewife) ya3ny why!?

Terri Hatcher was sexually abused?! 2awal mara asma3 hal 5abar!
Jonathan Davis the lead singer & frontman of a Heavy Metal band called “Korn”, started saying in interviews that he was sexually abused by either his dad or uncle I dont really remember. The song is called “Daddy”.
I thought about it for a while, why would I want to bring to the public something as painful & causes a permanent scar such as sexual abuse? What’s the point? After asking around & reading here & there, it turned out it’s mostly an attention-seeking method used for short-lived fame. Most of the time the information is false!

As one who has both experienced this kind of abuse, and one who now tries to help survivors of it, I see a different angle.
Most of us who experience this kind of innocence-destruction spend our childhood thinking we are dirty, different and very very bad. It is knowing you know something you shouldn’t, but if you tell anyone, they won’t believe you. It is as much about manipulation and threats as it is about the sex part – and that someone you should have been able to trust took complete advantage of you. Talking about it breaks the power if silence.

Sexual abuse is not a pleasant thing esp. child molestation which in most cases is overlooked and not reported because kids are scared to tell anyone. Sometimes parents trust others blindly. Their kid’s caretakers, neighbours or teachers take advantage of this trust and continue abusing them.
Talking about it will inform parents and make them more aware of such matters. how will they know about these situations unless someone talks or writes about them?
The worst kind of abuse is from parents themselves, statistics show a higher number of child abuse cases from parents. It’s sick!

I just remembered this song: “Ketab 7ayaty ya 3ain.. ketab kollo 3azaaaab, elfar7 fee 9a6reen, o 2el ba2y kollo 3azaaaaaaaab” :P

Pearls am taking about the movie stars doing that..
November 15th, 2007 at
Hmmmm….well if you are an artist, in most cases something pushed you to be a little bit sinful and be exposed in the lime light carelessly coz you have been like abused…dayum I lost my point, anyway what I meant was most celebs are pretty and lived a piece a trash life with nasty people who took advantage of them

well, movie stars do it for the publicity, you’re right but and I might be interested to read about it because movie stars were not born stars. It’s a msg to the public that they’re human too and they share the same problems.

Its a terrible thing to be abused as a child ! Too bad some people make big bucks out of it ! …

I’ve actually read queen noor’s autobiography, it was interesting! I’ve also read Courtney Love’s biography; I wouldn’t read teri hatcher’s because I find her annoying.

Dunno, maybe it saves money on the therapist?
November 15th, 2007 at
Hmm, I am reading Teri’s book at the moment, well, It’s taking me a long time because I don’t have much time to read since Ramdan, I can’t seem to be able to get back to normal..
Anyways, Yeah I saw her on Oprah she talked about that. I am not sure if she talks about it in her book, I haven’t read about that yet..
But most those biographies, I haven’t read many, only Still Me by Christopher Reeves which I really loved.. but others, I have some books but I haven’t read them, I didn’t feel the urge to read them lol but I bought them don’t ask why.. I want to read Michael J fox’s book though..
November 15th, 2007 at
WHY!? I understand Queen Noor’s thing with Asoom bas Movie stars why!? :/
November 16th, 2007 at
Hmm, Chika I don’t really know.. it’s more like I buy the book because I like the actor or actress, not because I am interested to know about them. See that is why most of them aren’t read lol. But Christopher Reeves, I read it because I wanted to know how the accident happened and all about that..

Are you serious? You can’t think of ANYONE who would be interested in books like those? How about the young girl who was sexually abused and needs to know that she shouldn’t be ashamed of herself, shouldn’t blame herself for what happened? How about the older man who can finally make peace with his abusive past and continue on with his life? How about the teenager who reads the book and realizes she is not alone in the world, other people have gone through what she’s gone through and now they’re successful, normal human beings?
November 17th, 2007 at
yes they are normal bas there are always other better ways to raise awareness – why do we have to associate it with the stories of people like those!? it doesn’t make sense to me, although I know some people like reading’em..
