Printing presses in Kuwait
The only good thing bout my job at the time being is getting to go outside during working hours ;)
One aspect of my job is taking care of the print materials of different nature, should they be flyers, brochures, cards, big displays.. etc.. this means one has to study market options when it comes down to the decision of selecting the appropriate people to do the required task in hand…
To people working in this field, one would know how many printing presses & agencies that a person can do business with but I choose to stick to one or maybe two places that I test out before I can blindly trust with the prices & end result. It amazes me to see that every Tom, Dick or Harry could come up with an office, place & start business – even though these people are as dumb as it gets! Na9eeb & rizq (God’s blessings), well I don’t really want to talk about that.
So, I was sitting peacefully enjoying my “sandoos” – sandwich when we knew that we had a round today, going to different places to check on work. I said earlier that I love this because I get to leave the gloomy cubical & see the day light!
Now, what I really hate is how these places are located in Shuweikh – the one with all the garages n’ stuff! Fffffery unpleasant! People there drive like maniacs & it makes me go insane! Honking & bashing through cars ain’t that fun after all, which reminds me! I crossed a red light today without even noticing it was Red! OMG!!! I just drove through & Blue went like: “Woman! It’s Red” !!! Wonder what I was thinking of! (not food) :p
Back to the subject, one of the places- people I like dealing with is Al Derwaza printing press. Babu the manager is a sweetheart! He’s hilarious! He speaks Egyptian, Kuwaiti switches to shami accent like a devil! LOL! Their work is good & cheap, that is compared with other agencies or presses & the best thing is the ability to squeeze them to lower the prices & deliver the work (hope this guy never stumbles across this!).
I am known as the “Madame” Hehehe! “Medaaame, pls come”! Ok! Although I don’t like it bas what to do!
It is important for one to go in & check on work & the process of printing, like checking the proof of colors and so on.. this is one of the places that gives you the ability to do so- I love that! They are straight forward..
Pet peeve in all of this is the location of Derwaza & the conditions that the poor workers “live” in through their working hours, which are long of course since they are under pressure most of the time to have the things done. Let me show you:
Entrance to the backside of the printing press
This is the wash up area for prayers!
Where the machines are..
Going up to Babu’s office..
I really wish the person in charge of this place, owner to spend just a little bit more money (since he’s making good anyways) to fix the place up & invest in it a little more.
Also, the poor labor! They work in poor conditions as I mentioned & it’s not humane at all! Yes I need work to be done bas I al also considerate of people’s feelings! I swear to god you should smell the sting in that place – actually as you walk in :$ & as I knew, these people are not paid enough :(

Why don’t you speak to the owner? because you do business with his company, you have a right to air your view. Suggest to him to upgrade his premises. Can’t do you no harm… Besides, Babu will love you for it and you might even get better service!

Well, thought of that to be honest bas wasn’t brave enough to open the subject with him! guess will try to :)

That place DOES look scary ;)
But heck, I wish I had “met” you a few months ago.
I was looking desperately for a printing press to make postcards and business cards.
Now we might head out of here soon and I need to desperately sell the last ones that I made myself, grin :)
