Napket Kuwait – 2nd impression
Finally!! I got the permission to blog the pics and make this perfect! I made a promise to a young lady after the storm which was created on the group Kuwait & Food on FB with regards to Napket, Mark blogged about it [ HERE ]
Our first visit was very negative to the extent that we took it personally and we just had to give it another shot before we either totally diss the place or fall in love with it; Especially since the decor itself is nice, I mean we all went “gaga” over the ipods and the roses along with the terrace.. So yesterday, a group of 11 girls went with the intentions to beat the French guy working there but some were disappointed ;p – they wanted to rant I guess, women! Go figure!!!
During our first visit the following points were noted down:
1. Not very welcoming staff
2. Not enough eye contact with us
3. We waited a while to be seated
4. Menus were not ready I guess (still aren’t as one of the staff informed us)
5. One French dude there was very rude
6. We waited for like half an hour to order, watching people come n’ go
7. Shortage of staff
So we left angry …
This is what I have to say after our 2nd visit and it will be in bullet points to make this short n’ easy for you readers:
Pros:
1. More staff members that were all over the place. This was actually good for the place since they can now attend to clients properly
2. French dude had a dose of love today I suppose, he smiled at me and that was a sight to the sore eye!!!!
3. We changed tables and staff members were helpful n’ nice although they are still kind of shaky, understandable since it’s newly opened and running
4. Staff’s patience was tested by one of the girls when she changed her drink twice ;p
5. Food is freshly served / prepared (for pasta) in front of your eyes
6. The atmosphere is comfortable – music selection is great!!!
7. The wraps are yummo, although I wish we had the option of customizing the sandwich itself instead of picking whatever is available
8. I like the cutlery (plastic forks – I still think you need proper dishes )
Now the cons:
1. No menus at least for the beverages, I understand that we have to go pick food from the display area bas the poor waitress was verbally listing all the drinks and we got lost :$
2. Some girls complained that the food was not hot enough for them
3. Salad portions are tiny in comparison to their prices
4. Cold drinks like the mocha – chocolate, come to think of it – all the drinks were mixed with water, so they didn’t taste right but my caramel latte was good!
5. Pasta – penne was kind of crunchy or not fully cooked which took the buzz off the taste (I liked their sauces)
6. Because it was kind of crowded, we had to wait for some time for the food to be at the table (that’s ok I guess)
7. There’s no ketchup :o !!! I managed to eat the wrap though ;p
8. It is overly priced for that type of cuisine – food – snacks (bill is below)
9. We had to wait for 10 minutes if not more for the bill which was a bummer since we had to leave quickly which leads me to the final point
10. I think the paying scheme should be different as Vixen was telling us that in England, at Napket you walk in, pick up your selection and go straight to the counter to pay which is actually more convinient for both the client and the cashier.. so the waiterss would be more focused on taking other orders like drinks for instance or additional orders at tables.
Now, having said all of the above, it doesn’t mean the place is not good on contraire; it is nice and I would defiantly go there for a snack when it is less crowded if possible and yes the service has improved immensely after the first visit yet I know it will be much better enshallah after some time.
I do recommend that you drop by to check it out and try the Mexican wrap :) and thanks again Bader for giving me the green light to post food pics here but pls be informed people, it is strictly prohibited to take snaps of the decor itself since it’s in their policy :$ beats me why but if this is what they want ok..
P.S: All pics were taken using my mobile camera so don’t make a fuss about them not being clear :) – use the mouse over the pics for the names of the items, I also didn’t or let’s say couldn’t take pics of all what we ordered.

I went there earlier today! I LOVED IT! Loved their food, atmosphere, interiors, staff….
Only problem was a mix up in our drinks, other than that it was all good.. Waiters were checking between now on then by passing by or asking if we needed anything, and on our way out too (not in the annoying way)

From what I’ve heard, their main problem now is the drinks.. maybe they should have a menu for it ;)
I’ll definitely pay it a visit when I get a chance

Drink menu is posted behind the counter on this huge chalk board. I don’t know how you could miss it!!
As for the food, i found some of the prepared salads to be tasty, the roast beef sandwich to be flavorful but dry, the shrimp wrap to be quite good but expensive, the bread to be “OK”, the white choc. & pecan cookie good, and the latte to be serviceable. However, by the time my wife & I visited at 5pm there was not much left. They need to prepare more food throughout the day.
