Crisis Summits, so what’s new?
Ohhh yes, another Gaza post people! Do you think I – we will ever stop!? Not till this is over! Till a final solution is found and this suffering ends… Action comes in different forms, I chose words and remember that every single little thing counts…
I received this by email the other day and I wanted to share here since I am advocating people to express their feelings and we’re trying to simply show our leaders – the entire nation, how angry we are about Gaza’s massacre

You CAN do something about GazaNot until global politics started spiraling downwards in a tumultuous storm of “terrorism”, “suicide bombing”, “Chief Justice” wars, protests, security, and whatever other words have now become part of our everyday vocabulary – not until about three years ago did I ever bother to pick up a newspaper. Even 9/11 didn’t see me worrying about the news beyond a few online articles and discussions with friends.
Today I’m feverishly refreshing Al Jazeera’s Twitter page every two hours, twenty minutes, half-hour, five minutes. I’m supposed to be at work. I can’t concentrate.
What’s driving all the hot blood to my head is the fact that Saudi Arabia and the gulf states, the only global entities that can make the greatest difference to the Gaza genocide, are sitting tight in their armchairs, cruising around in their Hummers, and sending ministers on behalf of their Royal Highnesses to stop by the Forum on Gulf-US Relations to politely address no one in particular that the US has been making flawed policies. Of course, we, the peaceful GCC countries, are not about to take any action against it, so any such flawed policies are welcome to continue. Since the islands are a peace-loving lot, we are clearly not willing to stop an outrageous holocaust going on in a nearby land, never mind that any true peace lover would have been crying themselves hoarse calling for an end to it.
Do these states represent us, the people? No, they never did. But today it is not okay to be quiet about it. That they have been this way for so long is no excuse for us to allow them to continue. Sitting back and staying quiet is only allowing yourself to fall back into your own self-destined powerlessness. You are not powerless. 6.7 billion non-Israeli people in the world – 4.5 million in the UAE, 24.6 in Saudi Arabia, 5.7 in Jordan… we are not powerless.
“But I’ve been supporting the boycott, I’ve been donating to the funds for Palestine”, you say. That’s not enough. It wouldn’t be enough to satisfy your conscious or your heartache if the 39 children and women mass-murdered in Gaza in a UN school were your own direct family. It shouldn’t be enough just because they’re not.
Do MORE.
Not just the Muslim world, the ENTIRE world – needs a unified response to the grotesque war crimes that Israel continues to commit. Israel has violated every law in the books, all standards of war ethics, UN resolutions, and numerous calls for ceasefire. She has plundered, killed, lied, destroyed in the name of security that nobody in the world had ever asked for, except for a handful of innocent believers of the media. Do not blame them. They don’t know better. Of those that do, 20,000 men and women marched against the war in Washington.
You need to do more. As of now, your donations are not reaching any Palestinian in need of them. Aid is hardly managing to make it into Gaza, the borders are being blocked, tunnels are being blasted, Israel is demanding passage blocks from Egypt and is looking to start an offensive there as well.
So what should you do?
The solution does not, and never will, lie in rebellion, protests, pointless signatures, strikes or chaos. If you oppose the Israel offensive for more than just humanitarian reasons but religious reasons as well, then know that Islam does not allow the spreading of chaos in a land. Neither is outright rebellion against the laws of the land allowed, unless they prevent you from practicing such basic tenets of Islam as prayers.
Just talk. Talk to your colleagues. Talk to your employers. Write. Ask your companies to push for your government to threaten real action, to stop cooperation or trade with Israel, with the US, to change policies, ANYTHING. Even a small gesture by your country will make a difference, as long it is more than hollow words. Think, what language do our governments speak in? Dollars. What, if anything, will affect them to take action? Withdrawal of dollars. Withdraw them. If enough organizations, enough employers, employees and customers take quiet, peaceful, but SOLID action, there is no reason our royal leaders will not be forced to listen – to take real action to force Israel to stop.
On the other hand, of course, you may decide to sit quietly and leave your fate to your leaders. That’s a lovely easy option isn’t it, to fall back and not use the power you’ve been given to change current events? Go ahead then. Seal your fate and that of 1.5 million helpless Palestinians with it.
Before you roll up your sleeves and commence your verbal counter attack, read the words of the sender carefully and understand where they come from. You will realize that as rich, educated and advanced countries we can play an important part of shuffling the political current map and assist Palestine if we move aside our Arab narcissism and all our ego. I do not understand till now why the US didn’t send troops or do what it usually does when such attacks outbreak in the Middle East and a fellow blogger mentioned that in his post and you made perfect sense but it’s not weird nor new to all of us how America blindly backs up Israel and implements its “strategic” moves according to its best of interest and benefits which basically circles around resources and that’s obvious.
Forget about the US and let’s talk about those sudden – emergency summits taking place in the GCC countries. Saudi, Qatar and Kuwait; The first two were pressed to take place and leaders were invited to convene to further discuss Gaza and many simply declined the invitation since Kuwait is hosting the Economic Summit scheduled for January 19th. I do not get how this was pushed only now when those attacks on Gaza started back in December!! And Why now only Arab leaders started to react to what’s happening? Bashar Al Asad wants Arab countries to kick Israeli ambassadors out now, hala walla!!! While Kuwait’s summit has Gaza as the center of its agenda which is cool don’t get me wrong but isn’t that kind of too late especially with that much dead civilians in Gaza and all the protests of the Arabic street! I sincerely do not read politics as good as many of you out there but my emotions analyze it differently; I speak on behalf of burdened mothers and devastated families who are innocent from all the dirty lobbying and the “cold shoulder” treatment the rest of the world gives them just because of Israel’s ties and connections.
Ok, so you’d meet and discuss then pass a resolution that you surely know in advance Israel won’t commit to neither Hamas I guess and don’t forget about America who surprisingly is not active and is an innocent by stander now.. tsk tsk tsk.. What is my solution? Opening borders?! Hell no, it would cause more chaos and mayhem!! So do we let Palestinians die on their own soil?! I am not suggesting that either.. How will this be resolved if Arab armies don’t unite and hit the enemy? Is that even possible? Boycotting American- Israeli products?! really!? How many of you did that already or can you or is it even logical?! Ostracize Israel’s presence?! Stop entertaining their officials on Arabic grounds?
Just tell me.. What is there to do besides the “laissez faire” attitude?
We should be the buffaloes and save calf Gaza! Animals do it better than us! sob7an allah!

The summit in Kuwait has been scheduled for more than six months, it’s the Arab economic summit. And therefore it wasn’t planned for gaza(as u were suggesting)
January 17th, 2009 at
Ali, yes it’s economic and it’s been planned months ahead but focus shifted towards Gaza and if you read newspapers, watch TV or online articles you’d know about it :)
and Anonymous, I am not quite sure what you mean by building here? elaborate pls

i do know about it, u dont have to be all arrogant in your answer, but in ur post u were stating as if it was an emergency planned summit to deal with gaza, well its not, and they have added gaza to the agenda of an already planned summit. so get your facts straight instead of just fuming over anything.
January 17th, 2009 at
Ali, My facts are very straight thank you. Again, you might have misread it up there bas I didn’t say that the Kuwaiti Summit was called upon suddenly all I mean is that instead of discussing the set agenda of that event, concentration is now on Gaza. Does this make you feel better dude?! eh!

“The Israeli cabinet is set to back an end to offensive military activities in the Gaza Strip, three weeks after attacks began, the BBC understands.”
I told you, didn’t I?
However, does not mean it won’t continue in smaller scale later this year ;p
