I’ve been in contact with a person – anonymous I can call him – her – over Gmail for some time now as he / she is trying to promote this amongst us bloggers – bloggerettes since it’s more than obvious that we can make a difference with our words (So yeah stop bugging me shit-hole over how I’m supposed to live my life) waja3 !
Simple basic idea of boycotting products endorsing Israel and its army! Unrealistic you might argue and I would definitely not fight back since our lifestyles revolve around some of these products. Needles to mention and this bugs me, some of these factories – businesses are franchised in the GCC countries or Arab ones and even manufactured – produced locally and in most Arab countries, locals work at these places so it’s a touchy matter since boycotting would have an immediate effect on these individuals and their families. So what do you think is a solution?! Start local industries and simply neglect the previously mentioned?! This would trigger “Arab competition” and rise those countries economies theoretically of course but dare we try? Some Arab countries are doing more than fine exporting local goods but is that enough? Do we – as consumers have enough trusts in what is made locally?
“Anonymous” sent the badges that you could share on your blogs *nicely asks you to share and pass around like I did* from [ HERE ] and provided me with this link [ HERE ] to subscribe
Now, from the picture above you would know that not all these products may be available in your town needless to mention the other things we are not aware of with all the rumors and the bar codes hearsay but basically we can all spot the common ones – trademarks. Is it that hard for us to stick to this boycott? Have you ever tried? One full day or an entire week without your Starbucks Mocha or slightest idea of changing brands even?!
I don’t have babies so Huggies is not an issue but I seriously love Coke! In fact, am an addict! I still drink it – actually I have one near me here :$ but I am off KFC, Mc’Ds and the rest of the logos on the design are out as well.
Think how this will affect the economy of the companies behind those brands who undeniably support Israel! You would say it’s almost impossible, I’d say everything needs time and we’d eventually get over Coke I hope! ;p
Bas I am still confused! Pls someone respond to my query:
Let’s talk about Al Shaye3 here in Kuwait- They have Starbucks right?! Is it true that the revenue goes to Israel wella the American government?! Or a part of it at least?! I fully understand that all the beans – machines – uniforms are sent from the States yes but the rest is done here!

I would rather live in a cave somewhere in an African country rather than boycotting these products.

*scratches head* Forza, I’d admitt it’s rather complicated and touchy as I mentioned; Which is pro wella con, I don’t think we’d really know but some of them have an obviously stated support – circulated all over the internet – are they rumors? We’d never know for sure but before shunning the whole idea ya Nizar, let’s give ourselves the credit at least of seeing how dependent we can grow off these products INCLUDING DUNKIN DONUTS Forza ;p

Starbucks as a company does not send part of its revenues to Israel. Starbucks is a public shareholding company, so the shareholders would have to agree on sending part of their earned money to Israel. I dont see that happening. Havign said that, Howard Schultz who is the CEO and chairman of starbucks is a strong supporter of Israel and he donates money to political institutions in israel. Money he made from owning starbucks.
As to the dilemma of boycotting products that are employing arabs/muslims, i dont think it is a bad idea to do that. It is true that in the beginning the employees would be affected, but that also means that since u boycotted them, then u found another local alternative, and this benefits other arab/muslim businesses. And since these arab/muslim businesses are rising because an increase in demand, they would have to expand, and hire more arabs/muslims. And who knows, maybe they would hire the same owns that were layed off from the failing “western” businesses that were boycotted.

It’s important to realize that the decisions we make and the actions we take are not happening in an isolated vacuum. We are all connected in many ways to those around us, to the market, to the companies in those markets, to the world. Even our small actions DO make a BIG difference, in ways that we don’t always perceive.
The list presented on the brochure is a somewhat comprehensive list for those who realize their responsibility that far. Some companies are so global and so prevalent in our lives that a boycott, although entirely possible, is not probable because of consumer attitudes. For those who will not or cannot boycott all of them, there are just a few main brands mentioned in the first step of the pamphlet, at the top. The point of TogetherAgainstTyranny will be to prove that a difference *can* be made. God willing, we will do that by *making* that difference, and *recording* it.
@Abdullah: TogetherAgainstTyranny will organize targeted boycotts of products that *can* make a difference, not everything in your life. Like I said above, the list on the pamphlet is a little comprehensive.
@Soil: Stupidity can only be gauged by fact. Boycott is a historically successful, peaceful mode of action that takes very little effort to participate in, and has the potential to make a huge difference. Imagine *yourself* being boycotted. You think it wouldn’t change anything? You think it wouldn’t weaken you, reduce some of your power, affect you at some level? What if thousands of people boycotted you together? Israel has the highest expenditure on defense in world, and the amount of strength that it gains through trade far outweighs the billions of dollars of US aid it gets, funded by unwitting American taxpayers. Targeting their trade will be more effective than if all of America’s 306 million citizens stopped paying their taxes.
@Forzaq8: Intel was at first included on that list, but it was removed in this version of the pamphlet since it is VERY difficult to boycott it, so there is no point adding it. There are other brands that have been excluded for strategic reasons. As for Coke and Pepsi, there is documented proof that Coca Cola has Zionist tendencies. Pepsi was considered anti-Israel because it chose to abide by the Arab League Boycott of Israel earlier. (They went to business with Israel after the boycott though). At TogetherAgainstTyranny.com we’re going to provide referenced proof of every product or brand we put up, whether it’s the company itself that promotes the Israeli occupation or the individual people who run the company, or whatever other information authentic information we can provide.

@Chikapappi: TogetherAgainstTyranny will make an effort to deal with the franchising issue as well. While it is true that these companies employ locals – you’ll see how *much* of the money actually goes straight back to the mother company, not just in the form of franchise royalties but as direct profits.

Together Against Tyranny,
Very well said. And I truly admire your motives and enthusiasm. Keep the good work up and please do not give up as you “do” make a difference. You offer a ray of hope. It is way better than being mentally defeated. Inshallah I will try my best to start with my self.
And may we one day become rulers instead of being the ruled.
