Review: Stone Grill Kuwait
Helloooo!

I received an invitation to dine at [ Stone Grill ] Kuwait, it’s been operational for 2 months (I asked the manager there) and the place is pretty decent and believe me when I say, it’s different! I was eating “A la Viking tonight” !
I called yesterday to book as the invite entitles dinner for 2, hubby - future hubby – insisted we try it out and from the telephone conversation, I could tell that it will be good because Mr. Tuan was very nice over the phone especially when I asked him if it’s permitted to snap some photos so I took the old hag, my stupid camera *reminds self to buy new one* and we head to [ Ibis Hotel ] where Stone Grill is located. Upon entry, one could tell that the staff are very welcoming and I love the whole theme / ambiance of the restaurant because I just like dimmed lighting! It is a tiny cozy place which I assume gets packed up during certain hours or holidays / weekends especially after pics I personally got via email forwards, I mean people ARE talking about it (for those unfortunate like me who’ve never tried it outside of Kuwait) not any more :p
We were informed of our options by Nora Lin, our hostess yesterday that we can pick from the appetizers and main courses sections only and although I wanted to order salad, I was bummed out because I didn’t like either of the 3 salads dishes on their menu but everything else was ok. Below are the pictures and my comments:

Bread Basket

Bobi’s order for appetizer: [ Beef Carpaccio ]

My choice of appetizer: Salmon

Warning!

Tadaaaaa! meet the STONE!
It’s slab of dense molten rock heated at 400 degrees C. to ensure that you cook your choice of meat, fish or chicken. It’s HOT! As you see from the picture, they have side veggies and your choice of sauce. I like mushroom sauce of course! The stone is sprinkled with salt which is a way to season your food and I guess it keeps your food from sticking on the stone itself. While I was cooking my meat I was thinking: “It’s like I am in my kitchen preparing dinner”! lol – that’s what I told our host Rosa Lin who put an apron or what I call a baby bib ;p and she said “because you’re the chef tonight!” lovely!! How often do you actually see your food being cooked in front of you, more over you doing it yourself!?!

Beef and marinated chicken, my main course

His main course: Marinated chicken and shrimps

We both had mashed potatoes as a side order

Cooking the chicken!

I butterfly cut that chunk of meat and maaaaan it was juicy!

Mr. Tuan, the manager and Nora Lin :)
So here’s the deal kids:
1. I liked the place because of the theme – its arrangement
2. The service as well as hospitality are great – they are very very friendly
3. Food is perfect but I always complain about portions, I prefer American portions ;p bas seriously, I never expected the meat / chicken I personally grilled to be yummy without marination! Mr. Tuan was telling me that marinating sauces with spices or leaves like coriander for instance, will not be suitable since it’s gonna smoke up the place, besides the food is healthy because they don’t use oil!
4. I love their white coffee! which is hot water with rose water, verrrrrry soothing
5. As for the pricing, the menu looked “fair enough” to me, it’s cheaper than other steak joints which serve quality meat but again, it depends on how you feel about it. I say prices are ok
They were also nice enough to drop off extra charges on our bill ;) sweet! I regret not ordering sweets lol! <– strict diet! ;p - Mr. Tuan also informed me that there will be another branch opening outside of Kuwait soon so I sincerely wish them all the best
My only con’s that I left the place smelling like “smoke” … doesn’t matter if my tummy is satisfied :) Go try it out !
