Kuwait Entertainment City – Al Madina Al Tarfiheya

I was blessed yesterday by being invited with “the man” to a trip to the Entertainment City ( First theme park in Kuwait however, not the only one ) and since I’ve been nagging for some group activity for a while, we couldn’t say no. Add to that the fact that the group we were with are so sweet :)

Most of us raised here in Kuwait have good memories with the E-City, the rides, games, snacks but I was sad yesterday to find out that it’s still the same after all these years! The park was opened in 1983 and of course during the invasion and for a good period of time after Kuwait’s liberation it was shut down for renovation and maintenance and again, I emphasize on the sad fact that it’s more or less the same after 27 years when it could be amazing because it’s huge in size, different themes (worlds) could offer a variety of much better rides, restaurants could use a bit of cleaning – adding different suppliers.. the whole thing needs reorganizing man.

The entrance

The weather was amazing!

This is the balcony – outside seating area of Burger King, we had to wait for 10 minutes for chicken fingers and the guy working there is so dumb poor thing! Very very bad service and it wasn’t crowded even!

This was around 2 maybe, people started to set their things on the grass and a couple were having “picnics” like we were on the gulf road or something! Not that I am against it but… !

Let’s talk about the rides – games:

1. The famous ones are either gone or are “out of service”, remember qe6ar el mout- death train-!? it’s out now and instead there’s this cool ride, a huge doughnut thing that takes you in a simulated river track and you get splashed with water called Al Dardour. It is not for free KD 1 for ticket but we got discounts for Hala February.

Al Dardour ride

2. Also remember the water gondola game?! It’s also on stop :/ That’s the only game I LOVE there but they had to stop it, I guess they want people to pay for the new one! No fair!!

Lightening ride

My friends and the man hanging up there ;p

3. Instead of the regular roller coaster train ride, they have a new game called AL Barq = lightening, you sit down with their shoulder buckled and your legs hanging and this thing takes you upside down – sideways like a crazy mofo! I tried it once, WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN! Tickets for this game are KD 2, again for Hala February it’s for KD 1

4. Karting we paid money for and I didn’t take pictures since I was busy racing!

5. Tornado, another yuki ride for those adrenaline junkies! I don’t know if this was for free or if they paid for it

Just look at that!

6. Remember the Sindbad ride!!! GUESS WHAT, every freakin detail inside that “cave” is still the sammmmmmme!! OMGGGG!! CHANGE IT!

7. Best thing to do their are the arcade halls! I got me a couple of soft toys and the man tried so hard to win me a large teddy but he didn’t  :(

All in all, the best thing about the E-City is the large number of snack carts around the city and I love charbroiled corn cobs which we had after Burger King, KFC for dinner – 3 scoops of Baskin Robbins, chips, water, diet coke and some nuts ;p EATING o bas!

My recommendations:

1. Since you’re charging KD 3.5 for entry tickets, reduce prices of new rides inside! It’s not for adults any more with free games are those targeting kids.

2. Do not allow single guys inside – dedicate days for them because some of them are a-holes!

3. Fix your premises man! renovate and modernize it to attract more visitors! We couldn’t get on the jungle boat ride because since it’s free people were all over it! The cars things was also packed and it’s not for adults anymore, not as fun as it used to be. The train that takes you around the city is pathetic! I am so sad!

4. Americana should do something about their restaurants there!

5. Follow Magic Planet’s steps into automating the games or hire responsible people who are in a mood for work, not a guy who has his ego / laptop chatting while we wait for his highness to activate the game!

6. Dedicate an area for them picnic lovers!

Read this [ HERE ] and you’ll know how dissappointed I was after coming back yesterday! and below is the location of the E-City

Last time i was there i was a teenager… it has just been reopened in 1994 and we for some reason went in the middle of the week

i remember a couple of guys hitting on me, and i had just bought a blue slushy i didn’t like… so i turned around and threw the slushy in his face… and he ran away like a coward!!!!

i also remember a cassette tape place… and girls in jeans and huge hairs and brown lips coming in and flirting with the seller… then going out and singing loudly to him “ma7ada bey3abeeee ma6ra7ak fe albeee”… the song was cool then!

My god it has been for EVER!

people are still hitting on each other there and instead of the cassette shop, they have that place where guys go in and record their own video dancing and it plays on the displays in the window of the shop. they look so stupid! and you can rejoice, fee red o orange slushy ;p

The first time I went to ECity as an adult it was exactly as I remembered it as a child, nothing changed at all. :-)
But it is a fun place to go to with a group of friends. I just wish there were more toddler friendly games.

I have such fond memories of that place back in the 80′s but now its just a shadow of its former self :(
